Best Time to Fish in Austria

Austria's trout and salmonid fishing is exceptional from April through October in the alpine streams and lakes. Carp and coarse fishing on the lowland Danube floodplain waters and large reservoirs is best from May through September. The iconic Neusiedler See and Danube Alte Arme (oxbow lakes) produce outstanding carp, bream and zander. Winter fishing is permitted on most stillwaters but activity slows significantly.
