Access & Rules at Klua Lakes

Night fishing: No general provincial night-fishing ban in BC. 'Daylight hours only' restrictions are real but narrowly scoped to salmon fisheries specifically, applied in-season via DFO fishery notices to particular rivers/sections -- not a standing rule. Check current DFO in-season notices before fishing a salmon-bearing water after dark.

Boats: Permitted — check specific launch restrictions locally.

Camping: Roughly 94% of BC is Crown land, allowing free, unreserved dispersed camping for up to 14 consecutive days per site -- after which campers must vacate for at least 72 consecutive hours before the count resets. This is genuinely limited near Metro Vancouver, where little nearby land is public; real dispersed camping typically means travelling to the Cariboo, Thompson-Nicola plateau, or further afield. Confirm Crown land status at this specific location before relying on it.

Rules reflect provincial defaults as of this page's last update. BC regulations are amended in-season — always confirm current rules in the BC Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis before you fish.

Fishing Licence for Klua Lakes

Basic Freshwater Licence: C$41.15/yr resident / C$62.87/yr non-resident Canadian / C$91.44/yr non-resident alien. Classified Waters Licence (only on BC's 50 designated trout streams): C$17.15/yr resident; non-residents C$45.72/day (Class I) or C$22.86/day (Class II), 8-day max. BC's licensing has three stacked layers: (1) a Basic Freshwater Licence required for everyone 16+ (resident annual C$41.15; non-resident Canadian annual C$62.87; non-resident alien annual C$91.44); (2) species/activity stamps on top for salmon, steelhead, or white sturgeon on specific waters; (3) an additional Classified Waters Licence required on BC's officially Classified Trout Streams -- residents get one annual licence covering both classes (C$17.15/yr), but non-residents have no annual option and must buy day licences (Class I C$45.72/day, Class II C$22.86/day, each capped at 8 consecutive days). Resident Indigenous peoples under the Indian Act do not need a licence for non-tidal waters.
