About Fishing at Étang de Longeville

Étang de Longeville is a compact 33-hectare reservoir in the Ain region offering solid mixed fishing with carp, catfish, pike and tench in a quieter setting away from the crowds. Night fishing is permitted on weekends (Friday–Monday) along the highway bank, making it ideal for a short UK trip, though you're limited to bank-only access. You'll need an AAPPMA day ticket or passport; contact FD 01 for current rates and pegs.

Étang de Longeville is 375 miles from Calais. For UK anglers willing to make the drive into Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes — one of France's most varied fishing regions, with venues ranging from Alpine lakes to lowland reservoirs — the fishing is well worth it.

Fishing Rules & Regulations — Étang de Longeville

Night fishing at Étang de Longeville is not permitted. Night carp not authorised on this lake. Source: federation-peche-ain.com/parcours-carpes-de-nuit/ Anglers must leave the bank before dark.

Boat fishing: Only electric motors are permitted — thermal engines are forbidden. Boat fishing is authorised; thermal/combustion engines are strictly forbidden (the use or presence of a combustion engine on a craft is prohibited). Electric motors and non-motorised craft (float tubes, canoes, kayaks) are authorised. Radio-controlled bait boats are prohibited.

Bivouac & overnight camping is not permitted at Étang de Longeville. Bivouac, biwy use, wild camping (camping sauvage), overnight vehicle parking, and fires are all explicitly and individually prohibited in the AAPPMA-PLA règlement for Lac de Longeville. Standard French bivouac law does NOT apply here — the local règlement overrides it with a blanket ban. Same prohibition applies to Lac Concours and Trou Vogliano.

Required permits & cards: Standard département card (FD 01 / PLA, réciprocitaire) required. The FD01 2019 guide lists Longeville (Chenavieux, 33.5 ha) under the FD 01 / PLA rubric with no 'Pêche de nuit autorisée' icon (unlike other lakes that carry it), confirming the night ban is embedded at departmental level. No additional paid night-fishing permit or boat permit is mentioned by AAPPMA-PLA. GoCarp notes access requires 'more than a simple CPMA' — likely refers to membership of PLA or FD01 as co-managers — but no specific extra-permit fee is published on the official AAPPMA-PLA site.

Managed by FD 01 / PLA. Always verify current rules with the AAPPMA before your session — regulations can change seasonally.
