Étang du Roi is a substantial 132-hectare reservoir in Gard offering excellent mixed fishing with healthy populations of carp, catfish, pike and tench across its banks — ideal if you're seeking variety beyond pure carp fishing. Day fishing only, but the sheer size gives you plenty of scope to explore different swims, and the southern location (526 miles from Calais) means warmer water temperatures through the season. Bank fishing only, so plan accordingly, and you'll need a valid French fishing licence and FDAAPPMA 30 permit to fish.
Night fishing at Étang du Roi is not permitted. Night carp not confirmed on this lake. Gard's designated night carp sites are mainly river sections (Rhône, Cèze, Vidourle) plus Lac de Sautebraut (Bellegarde) and Plan d'eau n°4 de Vergèze. This lake is not among them.
