Lac Cornu, Savoie
This intimate high-altitude mountain lake (1.4 hectares) in the Beaufort Valley offers day-only bank fishing for brown trout, rainbow trout, pike and perch—a scenic alternative if you're exploring beyond traditional lowland venues. Set 428 miles southeast of Calais in the Alps, it's best suited as a complementary trip rather than a dedicated carp destination, though pike can provide sporting action. You'll need a valid French fishing licence and membership with AAPPMA de la Vallée du Doron de Beaufort to fish legally.
Night fishing at Lac Cornu is not permitted. Night carp not authorised on this lake. Savoie has only 4 designated night carp sites (Plans d'eau du Sauget, Reculfort, Lac d'Aiguebelette, Plan d'eau de Grésy-sur-Isère), all on advance reservation. All other Savoie waters: night fishing prohibited. Source: savoiepeche.com Guide 2026 Anglers must leave the bank before dark.
