Lac d'Amance is a vast 520-hectare reservoir in Aube offering excellent day-fishing opportunities for carp alongside pike, zander and catfish in a scenic Grand Est setting. This is a day-fishing-only venue for carp (no night sessions permitted), though the sheer size and fish stocks make it well worth the 350-mile journey from Calais for a dedicated trip. Note: you'll need an AAPPMA licence and must fish within daylight hours for carp; contact the local AAPPMA des Lacs de la Forêt d'Orient for current regulations and access details.
Night fishing at Lac d'Amance is authorised under Aube regulations. Night carp confirmed on designated bank parcours 1–10. Season: last Saturday of April to 31 December (water level permitting). BANK FISHING ONLY — navigation prohibited at night. Vegetable baits only. No-kill mandatory. Bivouac required. Requires AAPPMA des Lacs card (not valid with interfédérale). Boat fishing: Boat access is restricted at Lac d'Amance. Electric motors and thermal motors of minimum 4CV (minimum 3.5m boat) authorised on Lac d'Amance — unlike Orient and Temple which allow electric only. Boat only permitted between sunrise and sunset. Night navigation and night mooring strictly forbidden. Weekend restrictions apply 15 June–31 August. Mandatory boat stamp (timbre pêche en bateau) required for all craft including float tubes.
Bivouac & overnight camping is permitted in designated areas only at Lac d'Amance. Bivouac only on authorised night carp pegs. Campervans parking at Amance night fishing zones has been raised as an issue — check on-site rules. Confirm with the local AAPPMA.
