About Fishing at Lac de Cazaux et Sanguinet

This sprawling 5,600-hectare natural lake in the Landes offers excellent carp fishing across vast, relatively underpressured water—a genuine breath of space for UK anglers used to crowded venues. Designated night zones allow nocturnal sessions, and the presence of catfish and pike adds variety if the carp fishing slows. Located 468 miles south of Calais, it's a serious road trip, but the size, boat access (5km/h bank speed), and mixed species make it worth the commitment for an exploratory trip.

Practical note: You'll need a French fishing licence and must register with the local AAPPMA (Sanguinet, Biscarosse, or FDAAPPMA 40); contact details available through the Landes tourist board.
