This intimate alpine lake sits at high altitude in the Maurienne valley and offers a completely different experience to lowland carp venues — crystal-clear water, stunning scenery, and exclusively day fishing (no night sessions). Bank access only, with brown trout, rainbow trout, pike and perch providing excellent sport in a peaceful mountain setting, though it's 459 miles from Calais, making it a serious road trip for UK anglers. You'll need to contact AAPPMA Les Pêcheurs Mauriennans (St-Jean-de-Maurienne) for a day ticket or annual permit; this is a trout-focused venue rather than a carp destination, so plan accordingly.
