Limburg is home to the Maasplassen — a chain of gravel pit lakes near Roermond formed by gravel extraction, holding large Carp in clear, deep water. The Maas river itself offers Barbel, Chub, Zander and Bream. Limburg borders Germany and Belgium and is around 3–4 hours from the Channel Tunnel.
All anglers need a VISpas (~€40/year) from Sportvisserij Nederland covering most public lakes, rivers and canals. For night fishing add a NachtVIStoestemming (€17.50/year). Buy both at sportvisserijnederland.nl before travel. Always check VISplanner.nl for rules on the specific water.
Filter by night fishing, water type and species. Full rules and access notes for every venue.
