About Holy Cross

Holy Cross (Świętokrzyskie) is Poland's upland heartland — centred on the ancient Świętokrzyski mountains, one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe — and holds a distinct mix of highland trout rivers and productive lowland coarse fisheries. The Czarna Staszowska and Czarna Konecka rivers drain the Świętokrzyski uplands and hold brown trout and grayling in their headwaters. The Pilica forms the northern boundary with Łódź voivodeship, offering pike, bream, carp and perch.

The Kielce area has several stillwater venues for carp and pike. The Chęciny limestone hills produce spring-fed streams with excellent water clarity. The region is landlocked — Kraków airport is the nearest major hub (90 km south). Holy Cross is approximately 18 hours from the Channel Tunnel. Night fishing is permitted on lowland waters; mountain rivers are restricted to daylight.

Key species include brown trout, grayling, pike, bream, carp, perch, tench.
