Opole (Opolskie) is Poland's smallest voivodeship, occupying the upper Odra (Oder) valley between Silesia and Lower Silesia. The Odra here is a regulated but productive river with accessible public banks holding catfish, carp, asp, zander and bream. The Mała Panew river — a right-bank tributary of the Odra — drains the Silesian Uplands through forested terrain, holding trout and grayling in its upper reaches near the Czech border. The Nysa Kłodzka joins the Odra at Brzeg, adding another productive coarse tributary.
Several oxbow lakes along the Odra floodplain provide sheltered coarse fishing for pike, carp and tench away from the main current. The region is compact — all venues are within 90 minutes of Opole city. Wrocław airport is 60 km east. Permits are issued by PZW Opole district at local tackle shops.
