Heart Lake is a public lake in Sitka County, Alaska, managed by Alaska Department of Fish and Game. It is public water managed for fishing by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Public access confirmed via ADF&G GoFishAK water.
A Southeast Alaska lake — cutthroat trout, Dolly Varden and, on the stocked lakes around Sitka, Ketchikan and Juneau, rainbow and brook trout; most sit in the Tongass with a Forest Service trail or cabin, several managed as trophy cutthroat water.

Night fishing: Alaska has no night-fishing closure — and in a Southcentral or Interior summer there is barely any night to close. A few waters have hourly restrictions during king salmon season; check the ADF&G regulations for the management area.
Boats: Rivers are fished from drift boats, rafts and jet boats (the Kenai, Kasilof, Susitna, Nushagak especially); lakes from skiffs and float planes. Alaska has no Lower-48-style AIS decal, but there is an active watch for invasive northern pike and Elodea — clean gear between waters. Many remote waters are float-plane or lodge-boat access only.
Bank & bivvy camping: Most of Alaska is federal or state land — dispersed camping is allowed on nearly all Tongass and Chugach National Forest, BLM and state ground along these waters, with bear-safe food storage essential. The heavily used rivers (Kenai, Russian, Gulkana) have designated campgrounds and, in places, camping restrictions.
Tackle: Bag, size and gear rules are set area by area and change in-season by Emergency Order. Bait is prohibited on many streams, single unbaited hooks are required during king salmon seasons on much of Southcentral, king fisheries (the Kenai especially) have closed entirely in recent years, and wild rainbow trout are release-only on many rivers. Check the ADF&G Sport Fishing Regulations and Emergency Orders for the area.
Anyone 18 or older needs an Alaska sport fishing licence — the resident annual is about $30; non-residents choose a 1-day (~$25), 3-day (~$45), 7-day (~$70), 14-day (~$105) or annual (~$145) licence. To fish for king (Chinook) salmon you also need a King Salmon Stamp — about $15 resident annual, or $15/$30/$45/$75 non-resident by duration ($100 non-resident annual). Anglers under 18 fish free (resident and non-resident), and Alaska residents 60 and older fish on a free permanent ID card. Buy from ADF&G at adfg.alaska.gov.
