North Newport River is a public river in Liberty County and Bryan County, Georgia, managed by State of Georgia (public / navigable water). You can fish it on an Georgia licence, but bank access is only at road crossings, parks, GA DNR access sites and other public land; riparian owners control the bank on non-navigable reaches. Public access confirmed via public-trust river.

Night fishing: No statewide night-fishing closure in Georgia. Public Fishing Areas and some Corps day-use parks have posted hours; a few PFAs are closed at night. Bowfishing and jugging at night are legal on most public water. Trout streams on WMAs may be open only 30 min before sunrise to 30 min after sunset in the seasonal-catch reaches.

Boats: Most Georgia rivers are waded or floated by canoe, kayak and jon boat; the Coosa, lower Flint, Altamaha, Ocmulgee and Savannah take bigger craft.
