Truckee River is a public river in Washoe County and Storey County, Nevada, managed by Nevada Department of Wildlife. You can fish it on a Nevada fishing licence — there is no separate trout stamp for general fishing. Nevada follows the federal navigability test for public river use; on non-navigable reaches over private land, fish from public land, at bridges and road crossings, or with the landowner’s permission. About 85% of Nevada is federal land, so most of these waters are BLM or Forest Service access. A warm Nevada desert river (the Humboldt and its main forks, the lower Truckee, the Carson below Lahontan) — smallmouth bass, channel catfish, wiper and white bass, common carp, and brown trout in the cooler upper reaches.

Anglers here mostly fish for brook trout, brown trout, bullhead catfish, channel catfish; green sunfish, lahontan cutthroat trout, largemouth bass, rainbow trout are also on record. Night fishing: No statewide night-fishing closure in Nevada; Pyramid Lake and some tribal and urban waters set their own hours and seasons, and a few trout streams close seasonally for spawning — check the current Nevada Fishing Regulations or the tribe's rules.
Boats: Most Nevada streams are wade access; the big reservoirs take trailered boats via a park or BLM ramp. Every boat needs an AIS inspection, and any craft off Lake Mead or Mohave must be decontaminated and dried before launching elsewhere (quagga mussels).
Bank & bivvy camping: About 85% of Nevada is federal land -- dispersed camping is allowed on almost all BLM and Forest Service ground along these waters, plus developed campgrounds at the state parks and national recreation areas.
Tackle: The general Nevada trout limit is 5, but many waters carry reduced limits or special rules -- the Jarbidge River bull trout are catch-and-release, Lahontan cutthroat conservation streams have their own regulations, and Pyramid Lake follows Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe rules (2 fish, protective slot, barbless). Anyone 12 or older needs a Nevada fishing licence — the resident annual is about $40, the non-resident annual about $80, with 1-day (~$9 resident / ~$18 non-resident, plus ~$7 for each added day) options. There is no separate trout stamp for general fishing, though a Colorado River endorsement covers the interstate reach and a trout validation is needed to keep trout on a few waters.
