Night fishing: On Oregon rivers and streams you may not angle for game fish from one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise. Lakes, reservoirs and ponds are generally open around the clock unless posted (bass, panfish and catfish are commonly fished at night). Check the zone regulations for the specific water.
Boats: The reservoirs and larger lakes take trailered boats via a state-park, Forest Service or county ramp; the Cascade lakes are often car-top or electric-only and many rivers are classic drift-boat water. Every boat — including canoes, kayaks and drift boats 10 feet and over — needs an Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit.
Bank & bivvy camping: About half of Oregon is federal land — dispersed camping is allowed on most BLM and Forest Service ground along these waters, plus developed Forest Service, BLM and state-park campgrounds on nearly every reservoir and Cascade lake.
Tackle: Trout limits are set by zone -- commonly 2 per day in western Oregon, up to 5 in parts of the southeast, plus bonus hatchery-trout allowances. Wild steelhead and most wild salmon must be released; only fin-clipped hatchery fish may be kept, and barbless hooks are required in the Columbia and many salmon and steelhead rivers. Check the current Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations for the zone.
