Hainaut is home to the most celebrated carp fishing in Belgium — Lac de Plate Taille (353ha) and the Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure complex are internationally known venues, with fish to 30kg+ regularly recorded. Both require an additional site permit on top of the standard Permis de Pêche. The province is around 120 miles from Calais via the E40 through Brussels — roughly 2 hours from the Channel Tunnel. Night fishing is permitted at the major reservoir venues.
