Fishing in Moravia-Silesia

The Moravia-Silesia region sits in the Odra basin against the Beskydy mountains — Slezská Harta and the older Kružberk reservoir on the Moravice, plus Žermanice and Těrlicko reservoirs near Havířov. Slezská Harta is a large, clean, relatively young reservoir.

ČRS Územní svaz pro Severní Moravu a Slezsko manages the revíry. The reservoirs are non-trout water where overnight fishing is normal; the Beskydy streams are trout and grayling water. A rybářský lístek plus the ČRS povolenka are required.

Fishing Permits in Moravia-Silesia

Every angler needs a Czech state fishing licence (rybářský lístek) from the municipal office (1, 3 or 10 years). Since 2017 visitors can buy a 30-day tourist licence that skips the written test.

On top of that you need a permit (povolenka) for the specific water from the Czech Anglers Union (ČRS) in Bohemia or the Moravian Anglers Union (MRS) in Moravia, sold by their regional bodies (územní svazy) and partner tackle shops.

There is no national night-fishing clock rule — daily fishing hours are set per revír in the rybářský řád, reissued each year. On non-trout (mimopstruhový) waters overnight fishing is routine; trout (pstruhový) waters are daylight-only with a winter closed season. Predators (pike, pikeperch, perch, catfish, asp) are protected 1 January–15 June on non-trout water.

Whether you can bivvy overnight is genuinely unsettled in Czech law (ČRS, 2026): a shelter for active fishing is accepted, a full camp is not, and it comes down to the landowner and local rules. Check signage or use an official campsite.
