South Bohemia is the carp heartland of Czechia — the Třeboň basin alone holds hundreds of managed ponds (rybníky) built from the 15th century onward, including Horusický (about 370 ha), Rožmberk, Bezdrev and the Staňkovský and Hejtman ponds. Lipno reservoir on the upper Vltava is the big open water. Wild Danube-strain carp to 20 kg+ are realistic here.
