Estany de Coma d'Or is a compact high-altitude natural lake in the Pyrénées-Orientales that's better suited to trout and pike anglers than carp specialists—it holds brown trout, rainbow trout, perch and pike across just 1.2 hectares. Bank fishing only, no night sessions, and at 579 miles from Calais it's a serious road trip in France's far south. Note: You'll need an AAPPMA permit from Fédération Pêche Pyrénées-Orientales; this is primarily a trout destination, so pack accordingly if you're making the journey.
Night fishing at Estany de Coma d'Or is not permitted. Night carp is only permitted on specific named venues in Pyrénées-Orientales (Barrage Agly, Raho, Vinça, Escoumes, Rivesaltes, Villelongue). This lake is not on the list — night fishing prohibited. Anglers must leave the bank before dark.
Bivouac & overnight camping is permitted at Estany de Coma d'Or under standard French fishing law — one rod, within 10m of the water, no open fires.
