Lac Bleu, Hautes-Pyrénées
This intimate 2.6-hectare mountain lake in the high Pyrenees offers a scenic alternative to lowland French fishing, with solid populations of brown and rainbow trout, pike, and perch across clear, cold waters — perfect if you fancy a change of pace during a French trip. Bank fishing only and no night sessions, but the spectacular alpine setting and relatively uncrowded conditions make it worth the 567-mile haul from Calais for a few days' exploration. You'll need a valid French fishing licence and should contact Fédération Pêche Hautes-Pyrénées (FDAAPPMA 65) in advance for current access and regulations, as high-altitude venues can have seasonal restrictions.
Night fishing at Lac Bleu is not permitted. Night carp fishing in Hautes-Pyrénées is only permitted on specific named venues per prefectoral order. Bivouac & overnight camping is permitted at Lac Bleu under standard French fishing law — one rod, within 10m of the water, no open fires.
