About Fishing at Lac de Virieu

Lac de Virieu is a compact, intimate natural lake in the Ain region offering a peaceful alternative to busier French venues, with reliable populations of carp, pike, perch and tench across its 8-hectare footprint. Day-fishing only and bank access make it ideal if you prefer a relaxed daytime session without the pressure of night fishing swims. At 394 miles from Calais, you'll need to factor in travel time, but the quiet setting rewards patient anglers. You'll need a valid French fishing licence and membership with the local AAPPMA de Nantua to fish here.
