Formed by damming a river valley in Bouches-du-Rhône, le Grand Réservoir is a small public reservoir covering 45 hectares and one of the more significant fisheries in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Species include Carp, Pike, Perch, Zander, Tench, Bream and Black Bass — with carp fishing the primary attraction for travelling anglers.
Night fishing is not permitted at le Grand Réservoir, so plan accordingly. Regarding boats: Bank fishing only. Overnight bivouac camping is authorised, ideal for multi-day carp sessions.
At 540 miles from Calais, le Grand Réservoir requires a longer journey from the UK, but Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur — a stunning region with mountain lakes, large reservoirs and excellent carp fishing in the south — rewards the trip.
