This intimate high-altitude mountain lake near the Spanish border offers a peaceful bank-fishing alternative for UK anglers seeking something different from lowland carp venues — pristine scenery with pike, perch and trout rather than carp focus. At just 1.5 hectares and set in the Pyrenees foothills, it's a compact water where bank positioning matters, though night fishing isn't permitted. A long haul from Calais (573 miles), this is best combined with other Ariège waters; you'll need a French fishing licence and daily permit from FDAAPPMA 09 (Fédération Ariège Pêche).
Night fishing at Étangs des Llassiès is not permitted. Night carp not authorised on this lake. In Ariège, night carp (no-kill mandatory) is only permitted on: Lac de Montbel (entire lake), Plan d'eau de Mondély, Plan d'eau de Labarre (Foix), l'Hers at Mazères (river), Saint-Ybars.
