This sprawling 309-hectare Alpine reservoir in Provence is primarily a trout and pike destination rather than a carp fishery, so it won't suit traditional UK carp anglers—focus instead on its excellent pike and black bass populations if you're after predator sport. Night fishing is not permitted (1st Category waters), and you'll need a boat to cover the vast expanse effectively, though electric motors are allowed. You'll need to obtain a day ticket from AAPPMA La Gaule du Valbonnais and ensure your French fishing licence is valid before visiting.

Fishing season: 2nd Saturday of March to 3rd Sunday of September (trout rules). Anglers must leave the bank before dark.

The main coarse close season applies to some rivers (typically January–March for certain species), but still-water carp fishing on private and AAPPMA-managed lakes is available throughout the year. Spring (March–June) is the classic French carp season, with fish actively feeding and moving into shallow margins. Summer nights (June–August) are ideal for big-fish sessions on the large public reservoirs and rivers. Autumn (September–November) is particularly productive on the Auvergne and Languedoc lakes as temperatures drop.
