Fishing in Prešov

Prešov Region is the Šariš country of north-eastern Slovakia, running up to the High Tatras and the Polish border. Vodná nádrž Veľká Domaša (around 1,400 ha) on the Ondava is the main fishery — a large, wooded reservoir popular for carp, pike and zander — while the Poprad, the Torysa and the Ondava carry the river fishing.

Domaša and the lowland rivers are SRZ carp waters (381/2018 hours, 24-hour fishing June–October). The Poprad is a border water with its own bilaterally agreed daily-hour table, published in that revír's permit rather than the national one. The Tatra plesá are inside the national park and closed to angling. A rybársky lístok plus the SRZ permit are required.

Fishing Permits in Prešov

Every angler needs a Slovak state fishing licence (rybársky lístok), issued by any municipal office for roughly €3 a week, €5 a month or €10 a year.

On top of that you need a permit (povolenie) for the specific water from the Slovak Fishing Association (SRZ), whose local organisations manage the revíry. Non-members and visitors buy a guest permit (hosťovacie povolenie) by the day, week or season.

On carp waters the national decree 381/2018 sets the daily fishing hours: 24 hours a day from 1 June to 31 October, 04:00–24:00 in May, 06:00–21:00 from November to April. Standing carp water is closed to carp fishing from 15 March to 31 May; flowing carp water has no annual close. Designated trout and grayling stretches are more restricted.

Always confirm boat and camping rules for the specific water — and check for any nature-reserve overlay (for example VN Sĺňava). PiscaMaps shows what is confirmed for each venue.
