Fishing in Šibenik-Knin, Croatia

Šibenik-Knin county is home to the Krka river — one of Croatia's most iconic waterways — which flows through a series of travertine waterfalls and canyon pools from its source near Knin to the Adriatic estuary at Šibenik. Krka National Park protects the river's most celebrated sections, where fishing is restricted, but accessible public stretches upstream near Knin and at designated zones hold trout, huchen, barbel and chub in some of Croatia's clearest water. The Čikola tributary holds trout and grayling in its upper canyon.

The Peruća reservoir on the Cetina river (bordering Split-Dalmatia) is one of Dalmatia's largest still waters, offering pike, perch, carp and catfish fishing. Several smaller karst lakes in the county's hinterland provide coarse fishing away from the rivers. Šibenik airport handles summer charter flights from the UK; the county is also accessible from Split (60 minutes). Permits are issued by county associations.

Key species in Šibenik-Knin include trout, huchen, barbel, chub, grayling, carp, pike, perch.
