Požega-Slavonia is a landlocked county in central Slavonia, sheltered by the Papuk, Dilj and Psunj mountains on three sides and drained by the Orljava river. The Orljava — a tributary of the Sava — flows through the flat Požega basin holding barbel, chub, carp and pike on accessible public banks. The mountains' forested slopes shelter clear trout streams in their upper courses, transitioning to coarse species as they descend.
