Slavonski Brod-Posavina county straddles the Sava river on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the town of Slavonski Brod as its centre and bridge crossing point. The Sava here is a broad, mature river with extensive public bank fishing for carp, catfish, pike, zander and asp. The county's flat Posavina lowlands hold the Sava's extensive oxbow lake network — Čajansko jezero and similar features — providing excellent coarse fishing in sheltered waters with large fish populations.
The Mrsunja and Orljava rivers drain the north of the county towards the Sava, providing local barbel and chub fishing.
