Fishing in București

The Romanian capital is threaded by the Colentina river, dammed into a chain of lakes across the north of the city — Morii, Grivița, Herăstrău, Floreasca, Tei, Fundeni, Pantelimon — plus the Dâmbovița running through the centre. These urban lakes are stocked and heavily fished for carp, bream, pike, tench and pike-perch, and are the most accessible fishing in the country.

Bucharest's lakes are managed for recreational fishing by the city association affiliated to AJVPS Ilfov; you need the free ANPA recreational permit plus that association's permit. Rules vary lake to lake — some are catch-and-release or club-run — so check the individual venue and confirm night-fishing rules before setting up.

Fishing Permits in București

Every angler needs the free ANPA recreational permit, available online at permise.anpa.ro. It covers the Danube, its arms, the Black Sea and non-contracted public waters.

Most inland lakes and rivers in București are contracted to the county fishing association (AJVPS București), which requires its own permit — sold by the day or the year and available from the association's offices and partner shops.

Mountain trout sectors in București are managed by RNP-Romsilva: fishing is daylight only, from sunrise to sunset, with the Romsilva fishing tariff instead of the AJVPS permit. Border waters such as the Prut also need a Border Police endorsement.

Always confirm current night-fishing, boat and camping rules for the specific water — PiscaMaps shows what is confirmed for each venue.
