Covasna county lies in the intramontane Târgu Secuiesc and Brașov depressions, ringed by the Baraolt, Bodoc and Vrancea mountains. The Râul Negru drains the basin, joined by the Baraolt and Cormoș, and a set of small accumulation and carp lakes — Pădureni, Criș, Reci — provide the stillwater fishing for carp, pike, bream and crucian carp.
