Ialomița county is Bărăgan-plain country between Bucharest and the Danube. Lacul Căldărușani, beside its 17th-century monastery north-east of the capital, is the best-known water — carp, pike, bream and wels catfish — with the Iezer–Gheorghe Lazăr lake and a string of floodplain lakes on the lower Ialomița and the Borcea arm.
The Borcea arm of the Danube is fished on the free ANPA recreational permit and permits night fishing. Căldărușani and the inland lakes are contracted to AJVPS Ialomița, whose permit is required alongside the ANPA permit. Confirm night and camping rules with the association.

Mountain trout sectors in Ialomița are managed by RNP-Romsilva: fishing is daylight only, from sunrise to sunset, with the Romsilva fishing tariff instead of the AJVPS permit. Border waters such as the Prut also need a Border Police endorsement.
