Prahova county runs from the Bucegi and Baiu mountains down the Prahova valley toward Ploiești. Two mountain reservoirs stand out — Paltinu on the Doftana and Măneciu on the Teleajen — both holding trout, pike and pike-perch in cold water. The Prahova, Teleajen and Cricovul Sărat cross the county, with grayling and trout in the upper Teleajen system.
The upper Doftana, Azuga and Telejenel are RNP-Romsilva salmonid waters (daylight only). Everything else is contracted to AJVPS Prahova — and note that the AJVPS Prahova regulament prohibits night fishing entirely: fishing is from sunrise to sunset on the association's waters. You need the free ANPA permit plus the association permit.
Every angler needs the free ANPA recreational permit, available online at permise.anpa.ro. It covers the Danube, its arms, the Black Sea and non-contracted public waters.
Most inland lakes and rivers in Prahova are contracted to the county fishing association (AJVPS Prahova), which requires its own permit — sold by the day or the year and available from the association's offices and partner shops.
Mountain trout sectors in Prahova are managed by RNP-Romsilva: fishing is daylight only, from sunrise to sunset, with the Romsilva fishing tariff instead of the AJVPS permit. Border waters such as the Prut also need a Border Police endorsement.
