Veneto spans from the Dolomites in the north to the Adriatic Po delta in the south, combining alpine river fishing with some of Italy's best lowland coarse waters. The Adige — Italy's second longest river — flows from the Austrian Brenner south through Verona to the Adriatic, passing through trout and grayling territory in Trentino before becoming a productive barbel and chub river in the Veronese plain. The Brenta, Piave and Livenza drain the Dolomites to the Adriatic, offering excellent trout fishing in their upper reaches.
The Po delta and its lagoon system near Chioggia create a unique brackish-water environment where coarse species mix with sea bass, mullet and eel in the tidal channels. Lago di Garda's eastern shore falls within Verona province — one of the most accessible shoreline stretches. Venice Marco Polo airport and Verona airport both serve the region with UK connections. The area is approximately 14 hours from the Channel Tunnel by road.

Fishing in Italy is managed at regional level. The national licence (Licenza di pesca tipo A) is low-cost and widely available. Night fishing is permitted at many venues. Motorised boats are restricted on many alpine lakes.
