Marche is the Adriatic-facing region between Emilia-Romagna and Abruzzo, divided by a series of Apennine rivers flowing east to the Adriatic: the Foglia, Metauro, Esino, Chienti and Tronto. These rivers hold brown trout and grayling in their Apennine sections and barbel, chub and carp as they approach the coast. The Furlo Gorge on the Metauro — a dramatic limestone canyon — is one of the region's most scenic fishing settings, with designated trout stretches in its clear water.
The Adriatic coast provides sea fishing from accessible beaches and harbour walls for sea bass, bream, mullet and squid. The Tavola reservoir and Borgiano lake near Macerata add stillwater coarse options.
